Rosa Lamoreaux, sopranoLyric soprano, is renowned for her versatile musicianship and her radiant, engaging, and effortless singing. Her concert tours include performances with Robert Shaw and the Atlanta and Cincinnati Symphonies, Musicians from Marlboro, the Rheingau Music Festival in Germany, and in Italy for La Fenice Chamber Music Festival in Venice, and the Scandinavian Music Festival. She is acclaimed for her annual performances at the Bach Festival in Carmel, CA. A favorite with Washington audiences, she has appeared at the Kennedy Center, the National Gallery of Art, and the Smithsonian with the Choral Arts Society, the Cathedral Choral Society, the Washington Bach Consort and the Washington Men's Camerata. Ms. Lamoreaux has performed on a number of broadcasts for National Public Radio. Her many recordings include Luminous Spirit, chants of Hildegard von Bingen for Koch, and Bach's Mass in B minor for Dorian. Ms. Lamoreaux has a degree in performance from Royal College of Music, London, England, and a master of Music in performance from the University of Redlands, CA.
Dr. Raymond Jackson, organistAs a concert pianist and Professor of Music at Howard University in Washington, DC, Dr. Jackson earned a Bachelor and Masters of Science, and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the Juilliard School in NYC. With a Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, he graduated first in his class with highest honors and was awarded the George W. Chadwick Medal. Dr. Jackson's doctoral dissertation, The Piano Music of Twentieth Century Black Americans, has become an important resource for African-American music. Dr. Jackson is the recipient of numerous national and international piano competition awards, including the Tenth International Piano Competition in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the Marguerite Long International Piano Concours in Paris, France. He has performed with symphony orchestras and as a solo artist in major concert halls in the United States, Europe and South America. Dr. Jackson is a visiting organist at The Mother Church in Boston, MA, and organist at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Chevy Chase, MD.
Sephen Stokes, tenorMr. Stokes has performed for more than 20 years with the Washington Opera at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Since 1981, Washington audiences have heard him perform in operas as varied as La Traviata, Carmen, The Marriage of Figaro, Tales of Hoffman, and The Barber of Seville. Most recently, he performed in Otello under the direction of renowned tenor Placido Domingo. In addition to his operatic career, Mr. Stokes is a guest artist with many Washington area music organizations, including the Wolf Trap Opera Company and Washington Concert Opera. Mr. Stokes lives with his wife, Elaine, and their two children in Mitchellville, Maryland. home |
