Companion Book of Sheet MusicThe book is usable for all voices.
Much of the music is counterpoint. The organist has one part, the soloist has another part. Together the music is beautiful, and it brings out the meaning of the words. At some points of the music the organ has the melody, at other points the voice has the melody. Therefore, follow the markings and read the composer's notes at the end of the piece. The Double CD "TRANSPARENCY IN SONG Vol l&ll" comes with each book so that the musicians can hear how the solos sound; the soloist can rehearse with an organ, and the organist can rehearse with the voice part. There are three pages of Notes for Organists. Raymond Jackson, organist on the CD (and substitute organist at The Mother Church), spent many hours in conversation with the composer. These notes give his insights on the registrations he used for each solo, and what sounds and moods the composer wanted to hear from the organ. home |

"I sang your setting of Violet Hay's poem "From Sense to Soul" in our church yesterday, and loved learning it... "
